The vibe
In leafy Chapelwick, the Bittersweet family has run Blithe Spirits on High Street forever, living together in their rambling black-and-white building and dealing with the town’s ghostly problems. On her twenty-seventh birthday, Melody Bittersweet carves out her own space and launches a new venture: the Girls’ Ghostbusting Agency. Unlike the rest of her family, she’s not taking down messages from ghosts—she’s taking them out.
Her first case is a grand old house that won’t sell because three ghost brothers cause chaos every time potential buyers show up. But the haunting comes with a darker thread: there’s unfinished business between the Scarborough brothers, including murder, and Melody isn’t the only one digging. Her rakish ex and business rival Leo Dark is on the case too—complete with a TV crew following him around.
And then there’s Fletcher Gunn, the sarcastic, skeptical (and annoyingly attractive) local reporter who’d love nothing more than to publicly discredit the Bittersweets… which has absolutely nothing to do with how hard he finds it to resist Melody. With her new business on the line, Melody has to solve the mystery—while deciding what to do about the man who keeps haunting her.
