Limited first print run (spray-painted edges) • fantasy workplace rom-com • sunshine assistant → apprentice • grumpy/evil boss • magic going wrong • protect-the-lair stakes • banter + slow-burn
The instant New York Times bestseller sequel that turns the dungeon-office chaos up to eleven—because now the kingdom’s magic is acting weird, the forces of good won’t quit, and Evie’s ridiculously hot Villain boss is… inconveniently out of the evil office. Apprentice to the Villain keeps the same Once-Upon-a-Time-meets-The-Office vibe, but raises the stakes: it’s no longer just “do your job and don’t flirt with your boss.” It’s “save the lair, the empire, and maybe the whole kingdom.”

The vibe

Evie Sage has never been happier to be assistant to The Villain. Turns out supporting an evil overlord’s daily operations is oddly fulfilling—if you ignore the constant hero interference and the fact that your boss is outrageously handsome (shh, bad for his brand). But something is seriously wrong in Rennedawn. The kingdom’s magic is going sideways, and it’s left the Villain’s manor vulnerable to enemies—especially their nemesis, the king.
With catastrophe looming (and all signs pointing to it), Evie has to step up and protect the Villain’s lair and his nefarious works… and maybe, quietly, the entire kingdom. Which means leveling up from assistant duties to apprentice duties: learning new skills like treason, dagger work, and conspiring with the enemy. Delightfully fun. Mildly terrifying. Extremely Evie.
And as Evie grows into the role, the question becomes: what happens when the assistant to the Villain is ready to become his apprentice—for real?
