Miryem has learned that being a moneylender's daughter means knowing exactly what people owe you, and she intends to collect every debt her father could not. But when rumors spread that she can turn silver into gold, her newfound reputation draws the attention of the Staryk king, a mysterious ruler of the wintry fae. His impossible challenge sets Miryem on a path that will entangle her with two unlikely allies, a dangerous royal marriage, and a secret capable of destroying both the human and Staryk worlds.

The Vibe

Miryem is a clever, determined moneylender's daughter who has hardened herself against the hardships of poverty and learned to rely on her own resourcefulness. Her journey takes her from collecting debts in her village to confronting ancient magic, impossible bargains, and a fate far larger than she ever imagined.

The Staryk king is an enigmatic, icy ruler whose otherworldly nature makes him as dangerous as he is fascinating. Alongside Miryem's story, the lives of Wanda and Irina become intertwined with hers, creating a richly layered tale of women navigating poverty, power, marriage, and magic in a world where fairy-tale bargains can have devastating consequences.

With its wintry atmosphere, intricate folklore, multiple perspectives, and beautifully woven fairy-tale threads, Spinning Silver is a sweeping fantasy about bargains, courage, sacrifice, and the unexpected ways people can change one another. Naomi Novik's Rumpelstiltskin-inspired tale balances wonder and darkness with a deeply human story about survival, family, and finding strength in unlikely places.
