Romcom • celebrity romance • fake dating/pretend girlfriend • bodyguard FMC • actor MMC • Texas ranch setting • protective heroine • sweet + funny + heartfelt
Perfect for readers of:
- Feel-good romcoms with “90s movie” charm and modern emotional depth
- Fake dating where the cover story gets way too believable
- Celebrity heroes who need hiding out + a grounded, competent FMC
- Small-town/ranch settings with lots of heart (and lots of awkward proximity)
Spice: 2/5
Sweet, swoony romcom energy; not positioned as explicit.
The vibe
Hannah Brooks looks more like a kindergarten teacher than someone who could take you down with a wine bottle opener—or a ballpoint pen—or a dinner napkin. But she’s an Executive Protection Agent, and she’s just been hired to protect superstar actor Jack Stapleton from a stalker. Jack is the kind of household name paparazzi love, famous for rising out of the ocean in clingy board shorts and looking like a Roman deity… until a family tragedy sent him off the grid.
When Jack’s mom gets sick, he heads back to his family’s Texas ranch to help out—without telling his family about the stalker or the bodyguard. Which means Hannah gets pulled into the cover story: she has to pretend to be Jack’s girlfriend. Even though Hannah’s ex insists no one will believe it.
The longer Hannah and Jack play house, the more real it starts to feel—and that’s where the trouble begins. Because protecting Jack is Hannah’s job. Protecting her own long-neglected heart? That might be the hardest thing she’s ever done.
