- Sunshine x shadow slow burns with a grumpy-but-soft-for-her hero
- Found family + questing through a world that’s beautiful and brutal
Spice: 2/5
Slow-burn, cozy-romantic tension (based on positioning/tone).
The vibe
Thea Winter never chose the fae life—she was stolen from the mortal world as a baby and raised in the wildlands by a hobgoblin named Mudge, who taught her how to read the weather in a crow’s wing, barter with brownies, and survive the whims of capricious fae courts. What he couldn’t teach her? How to stay out of trouble… which is how she ends up tangled in an objectionable marriage of convenience.
It would be a marriage, anyway—except her spouse bolted. Now Thea has to hunt down Devan J. Fenelon, and she’s been saddled with a taciturn, humorless hunter known as Winter’s Hound. He answers only to his cousin, and Thea is not thrilled about this quest (or her grim, watchful companion).
Kerboros has survived the Winter Court by being exactly what they made him: relentless, invisible, and careful never to want anything. Under the control of his reprehensible cousin, Lord Liskaal, Kerboros is allowed to live only as a warning—proof of how far someone can fall after a failed rebellion. But traveling with Thea—wild, warm, impossible Thea—is a glorious torment for an enforcer who’s never known freedom.
She is sunshine. He is shadow.
Their love is forbidden… but when an irresistible force meets an immovable object, the fallout might be pure magic.
